Digital Locksmiths recognized as Privacy by Design Ambassadors: Implementing both privacy and security as a win-win solution!
privacy assurance that must ideally become an organization’s default mode of operation
MONTREAL, Canada (November 12, 2012) – The CEO of Digital Locksmiths is proud to announce that the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario has designated the Montreal based company as a Privacy by Design (PbD) Ambassador in recognition of their application of the Principles of Privacy by Design.
“We, at Digital Locksmiths, embed Privacy by Design as a permanent component in our planning, design and development of all our products and business practices,” said Wadih Elie Tannous, CEO of Digital Locksmiths. “It is our principal commitment to our clients and our community to play the role of educator and partner to deal with the critical challenges of increasing security without diminishing privacy rights.”
Digital Locksmiths, the first Quebec based company designated as PbD ambassador, has always believed this is not only about information security; it is mainly about privacy with design principles touching in three areas: IT, accountability in business practices, and physical design including network infrastructure. If adopted early in the design and business planning, security and privacy principles are used as a business enabler to gain market shares and competitiveness.
“The Digital Locksmiths organization has created an end-to-end solution that proactively embeds privacy and security protections,” said Dr. Ann Cavoukian, Ontario’s Information and Privacy Commissioner. “From early analysis through to implementation, Digital Locksmiths embody the positive-sum, ‘win-win’ approach – avoiding unnecessary trade-offs and ensuring that the protections are user-centric.”
Having the “Privacy by Design” designation not only means that the company has completed a key milestone towards its own objective of being the “trusted authority”, it also means the company is helping advance the future of privacy assurance that must ideally become an organization’s default mode of operation.
